This rather lovely V8 Volante was delivered to its first owner by Aston Martin Sales of Sloane Street in March of 1979.

The original colour scheme of Florida Blue with Fawn leather was chosen....as you can see today the interior is now Slate Grey piped blue which was changed when the whole interior was given a complete refresh and re-upholstered over 25 years ago, certainly a good choice, as the leather contrasts perfectly with the virtually unmarked dark blue hood.

The condition of this special Volante reflects the total focus and dedication of successive owners on the importance of proper servicing and maintenance, literally from day one, hence it caught the eye and was owned by a number of discerning and well known collectors over the years.

All subsequent owners entrusted its servicing and upkeep from 1979 to 1999 to AM Authorised Service Agents, HWM and Ian Mason, at which point the mileage amounted to 91,834.

Happily a full summary of its servicing is fully detailed within the extensive history file and again by virtue of having its original Service Voucher booklet plus an additional further two continuation booklets with service stamps up to 2006.

In addition to this there's a separate folder with further historical servicing invoices along with detailed further purchases. As a matter of note, both Bramley and RSW also handled its sale on three previous occasions, with each as previously mentioned of these purchasers being well-known and long-term Aston Martin owners of some repute.

Moving forward a few years to 2006, the last keeper purchased the Volante directly from RS Williams, actually at the time part exchanging his 1978 Vantage Saloon. Again all of the paper work trail and the details of this particular transaction remain in the history folder.

Interestingly, it was agreed within the purchase price that both the engine and gearbox would be upgraded with their 7.0 Litre specification....mileage at this point amounted to 103,674.

As many of of you know, the RS Williams 7.0-litre upgrade is one of the most famous aftermarket performance conversions offered for the classic Aston Martin V8 range. Developed in-house by RSW, the conversion enlarges the original Tadek Marek V8 from its factory 5.3-litre capacity to approximately 7.0 litres, transforming both power delivery and torque which amazingly nearly matches the X Pack Vantage cars output!

From its delivery in 2006 until recently, this car has been exclusively looked after by RSW and as a result remains in exceptional condition throughout. For those of you not familiar with RSW invoicing, their typed invoices clearly describe the completed works undertaken and invaribaly always verify the current mileage, which in this case is 110,297.

Slightly "over gilding the Lily" here, nevertheless, this car was also selected to feature in the AMOC Royal Windsor St. George's Day Festival parade, happily for posterity, all of the paperwork confirming its entry plus an official photograph of the car passing Her Majesty The Queen, is included within the extensive history.

Clearly one can deduce from the history file and photographs that this an exceptionally well cared for and upgraded Aston Martin that carries just the right amount of patination, easily elevating it above the competition.
